$13 Lobster Roll: Not Amazing
Does the headline sum it up? I was disappointed this weekend when I hit up the Brooklyn Flea for the sole purpose of trying one of Red Hook’s Lobster Pound’s famous sandwiches. Despite the warnings of long lines and a shortage of food, there was no wait and plenty of food to go around. I was, however, shocked at the price: $13.
Now, I know lobster is in the high-end category and can cost a lot of money. But $13 for a sandwich on a butter-grilled hot dog bun? And, while the dish had hearty chunks of lobster meat, it lacked real flavor. Perhaps I am just spoiled, since the only lobster I have had was in Maine. That, that was heaven to the lips! I still dream of eating lobster like that again and maybe this dream has caused my expectations to be high. Though, if a lobster roll from a stand at a market costs $13, high standards are expected. Next time, I think I will just buy a whole one and boil that sucker up! Lobster date anyone?
